"Yeah, that's why," Klaus says with a dry huff of laughter. Ben pulls him in closer, ticking Klaus's head against his shoulder, and that's enough to make a fresh set of tears spill from his eyes. Ben is here, and sometimes Klaus still can't believe it. He's so grateful for it every single day.

"It was just sitting here. This place does that sometimes." He keeps his head on Ben's shoulder and pulls the helmet over to where their thighs are pressed together. Dolores showing up is proof of that, and Klaus is glad to have that knowledge. He doesn't have to wonder if Dave is around here somewhere. Instead, this is just a very cruel-- he doesn't know what. A prank?

"You knew I wouldn't be able to handle it, didn't you?" Klaus drawls out, thinking back to their conversation in the car in Dallas, after he saw Dave that first time. "I didn't lie to you when I said I could. Just to myself."
